Sail La Vie - Cruise to Jewfish

1-29-16
CRUISE TO JEWFISH
Today was the first cruise of the season on Sail La Vie Catamaran from our slip at Pasadena Yacht Club to JewFish Anchorage on Long Boat Key. Rough start to the passage with a Small Craft warning some of us knew about and thought would be Ok to go out in 5-7 ft.  Did alright with the new medication, thank God.  Half way through the cruise we hit the shipping channel and that got a bit crazy with Ships everywhere.  We ended up crossing in front of two large ships in the channel and it was harry.  We had enough room but it was probably not the best decision to make considering if something happened to our engine we would have been smashed like a bug by not only one ship but two.  Let’s just say we will not be doing that again or there will be Mutiny on the Bounty!! One of the ships actually hailed us telling us that we were possibly in danger and that they were not at fault if anything happened.  The were really that close but still it was nerve wrecking to say the least. After that incident it was smooth sailing.  Our anchoring went well got it on the first try which is always good news.  We have been watching the anchor for about ½ hour now and we are pretty steady so we will probably go into town and check it out a bit.  We may or may not ride bikes today it is already 3pm so we might just walk around and

bike tomorrow.
Attached are some photos from JewFish anchorage. I will put the ones of the big ship crossing later, they are on my phone.
