Another beautiful day in Paradise

Today we relaxed, I painted, Brad rode his bike to a meeting. Then we went to the beach where Brad kited for the second day in a row and I practiced my Belly dancing and video taped Brad's kiting. It has been 6 wks to get to this point. We arrived in Florida on Jan 4th, then had to take the boat out of the water for repairs which took 2 weeks. So we did a road trip to Florida's East Coast to check out St Augustine, Daytona and West Palm Beach. Then we finally did get the boat back and bad weather kept us at the Yacht club for several more days. Then we were behind the eight ball and needed to rush down the coast of Florida to the Keys and then over to Miami for the Boat Show and Brad's business trip. So we did about 50nm per day travelling on the boat for about 8 hours per day. Bad weather again hit us in the Keys, Miami and now yes even in Ft Lauderdale. In fact just the other day was the 50nm hurricane winds we survived. Now finally after weeks of surviving the elements it was a nice day. I am starting to feel normal again. In two days we are off to the Bahamas, which is exciting and scary at the same time. The crossing is the scary part, the waves will be not more the 4 ft I hope but the current or Gulf Streams pushes at 2-3 knots up the coast. Plus the direction of the wind makes for an interesting time with competing forces. We do have a slip arranged for the first night there so we can check in and get acquainted with the area. The next day we sail to an uninhabited island called Sale Cay and stay overnight. Then we plan to make a run to Green Turtle Bay where we will have another slip to stay in during the next predicted weather storm. It seems like this season we have storms every 5-7 days. And I do mean storms, rain like I have never seen and wind that can knock you down while you are walking, so staying in harbors and marina are not for pleasure but for survival. Safety is number one for me for sure, I don't care how much it cost to stay in a Marina during a storm. Hopefully the Bahamas will be all that we have been anticipating, beautiful waters, sandy white beaches and a lot a fun. Here are some of the places we intend to visit while we are curising the Abacos: Hope Town in Marsh Harbor Man O Way Cay Green Turtle Cay Little Harbor Great Gaona New Plymoth Tressure Cay And many more special cays!
