Abaco, Bahamas
Marsh Harbour is the third largest town in the Bahamas and it is now our home port in the Bahamas.
There are four inhabited Cays of major importance here in the Abacos:
Hope Town on Elbow Cay is famous for its candy-stripped lighthouse
Man O War is a boat builders village
Great Guana Cay is known for Nipper's and Diving
Green Turtle Cay has the historical site of New Plymouth
There cays formed the heritage of settlers called Loyalist because they wanted to retain allegiance to the British Crown. So they left Revoluntionary America and set up housekeeping on Royal land grants in the Abacos. In appearance today's Abco retain most of the Colonial American charm known to Loyalist pioneers who took root in Abaco in the 1780's. The island capital is Marsh Harbour, located in the elbow of boomerang-shaped Great Abaco Island.
In the past Marsh Harbour was know for it's thriving crawfish industry (Bahamian lobster).
