Another beautiful day in my new favorite town St Augustine, so much history to learn and beautiful buildings to see. This morning we went to the "Fountain of Youth" Ponce De Leon was supposedly looking for the Fountain of Youth when he came here or at least that was the legend told. So we went there today to see for ourselves, the water did not taste that good, probably from the 41 minerals it has it it. I drank it anyway just in case it did really have health benefits. The Food Tour Guide Ed said that the original fountain was at a different location and that Ponce De Leon really did not come here looking for it and that is was just a story made up by people and that he was a great sailor and would have been mad to know that people remember him because of the water not the other things he had done, like for instanse founding St. Augustine. Anyway, I guess we shall never know for sure but I do know that the water was terrible and I don't feel any better.
This afternoon we went on the City Walks St Augustine Food Tour which was fabulous as are most food tours. We went to some great restaurants, but sadly I don't remember any of their names. We started with a seafood omelette, then polish porgies, a greek panini and of course chocolate. But the best part of the tour for me was the history. Just learning about the people and buildings was great. We ended up across the street at the Flagler College rountunda which is now the college dinning hall.
